The junior tennis season is winding down with just one final week of social play on Saturday 14th March.
A presentation morning was held on Saturday 28/2/26 including an inter-generation tennis event, trophy presentations & BBQ. There were a total of 102 players who took to the court on the morning.
On offer was a free sausage & zooper dooper with drinks available.
Thank you to the Scholes family who did a mad dash to the supermarket for an extra 70 sausages that they kindly donated.
Michelle Hill joined us for our presentation ceremony and awarded her Spirit of Tennis award to Lucy Wilkinson & Cam Vincent.
Our Aggregate Winners were Taylor Richards & Lucas Daly with runners-up being Isabel Bradley & Cam Vincent.
We had record participation this year with 23 players missing just 1 week of play for the season.
Season Highlights
* We hit our goal for the season early on in the year with 70 players on one Saturday morning
* We held mixed doubles club championships for the first time in several years and had record participation
* We held 2 x inter generation mornings that both the kids and their parents enjoy and are proving very popular. This also seems to have encouraged some parents to get back into tennis and become members.
* Our junior parents stepped up during the Inter Regionals & Australia Day tournaments helping out with the BBQ & Kiosk.
* To thank them for their contribution we used the left-over bacon & eggs from Australia Day and provided a free breakfast.
A huge thank you to Mason, Sam & Kerryn Filipenko for all their assistance this season in making it a wonderful experience for all the kids.

Twilight tennis came to a happy social conclusion on Tuesday evening at the Wangaratta lawn tennis Croquet and Pickleball club.
Coordinators Sean Ablejaz and Steve Russell had a difficult job as the recent wet weather had made play impossible on Monday night.
A wise decision was made to combine the finals of the A and B grade competition for Tuesday. This meant the two top teams of each grade played off and the other teams who could play had a social match. The result was very social tennis played under balmy conditions.
Post matches the socialising continued with the bar being open along with a celebratory barbeque. At the end of proceedings twilight player Mark Brown made a brief speech thanking Sean and Steve for their coordination work and and wished all the players well and hoped they had enjoyed their twilight season.

Aggregate Tennis Competition
|
|
Saturday afternoon Aggregate competition is in the home straight with just 4 rounds remaining.
There is some keen rivalry between players at the top of the aggregate score board with a number of players keeping a close eye on proceedings.
The round results across the season are aggregated to form a player's score.
However, only 18 of the 22 scores are counted which allows players to miss one or two rounds and still be in the running.
Each year there is a Men's winner and a Ladies winner, followed by trophies for second through to fifth.
The main contenders as of round 18 are: Ash Weston (326) Ryan Patterson (324) Mark Gorman (324) Brian Scobie (294) Thomas McDonald (291) Andrew Cope (286)
The leader board can change unpredictably once players reach the 18 games played.
